Eight startups, divided over two competitions, competed in the finals of the Philips Innovation Award in Rotterdam on the 11th of June. In the Innovator Award, five mature startups competed for a grand prize of 50,000 euros, while in the Rough Diamond League, a separate competition for teams that have just started working on their idea, three startups had a chance to win an incentive prize of 10,000 euros.

During the three minute pitch, the startups presented their plan to the jury panel comprising of heavyweights of the Dutch business community. The jury chaired by Roy Jakobs (CEO of Philips), Gillian Tans (Business Executive, former President/CEO and Chairwoman Booking.com), Pieter Zwart (Founder & CEO of Coolblue), Anke Huiskes (Managing Partner of NP-Hard Ventures), and Eline van Beest (CEO of Hybridize Therapeutics) tested the eight startups. The focus was on the innovative character of their product and the scalability and impact of their company.
